The People Behind Catscapes
Catscapes is an all South African company with a vision of promoting the quality of life for all South Africans. Heading this operation are
Christopher Williams, Ephraim Tlhapane and Karen
Hodnett.

Christopher
Williams
Christopher has spent a life dedicated to horticulture, and after completing his studies both here and in the United States, worked at Sun City for five years before opening the Lost City Golf Course. After leaving Sun City, he spent his next five years with Matkovich & Hayes, Golf Course Architects. He ran the maintenance division of this company for five years before opening his own business - Catscapes. Christopher has also been used as a turf consultant on Radio 702.

Ephraim
Tlhapane
Ephraim worked at Sun City for 14 years whilst studying Turgrass Management through the Pretoria Technikon. He also attended various courses such as the Supervisory Development Programme, World Class Winners Conference, Prof Joe Vargas Conference (from Michigan State University) as well as a course held at the faculty of Biological and Agricultural Sciences at the Pretoria University.
Before assisting in the construction of World of Golf at Woodmead, Ephraim worked at Centurion. Later, he was required to assist in the running maintenance of the World of Golf. Thereafter, he worked at the Woodhill Golf Course (which was voted 2nd best course for 1999 by Golf Digest), before finally joining Catscapes. Ephraim is an integral player in the operation, providing not only hands-on experience, but also taking an active part in decision-making.
> Karen Hodnett
Once Karen completed her studies, qualifying as a Horticulturist, she did training at the Botanical Gardens and at well-known nurseries such as Ludwigs Roses and Super Seedlings.
She is a qualified golf course superintendent and has worked at Top Turf for a number of years. She was involved in various projects including Dainfern Estate, Vodaworld, and Reading Golf Course where she was the head superintendent. Karen now runs the horticultural division at Catscapes (PTY) Limited.
Catscapes have an effective and efficient administration office, which is managed in such a way as to keep costs borne by the client as low as possible. |
